Honoring Our Patriots
The Noah Coleman Chapter, NSDAR, members proudly present their Patriot ancestors who aided in the cause of American independece during the American Revolutionary War beginning with the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775, and ending when the British evacuated New York on November 26, 1783. Our Patriot ancestors sacrificed their lives and fortunes to fight for the freedoms that we enjoy today. We honor their legacy through our membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Our Patriots include signers of the Declaration of Independence, members of local and state militias, members of the Continental Army or Continental Navy, men, women, and children who rendered other types of aid to the cause of American independence; and those taking oaths of loyalty. Our Patriots may have also provided civil service; conducting public business in the newly formed American states.

If you think you may have a Patriot ancestor, you can search the DAR Ancestor Database to see if he or she has already been acknowledged as a DAR Patriot ancestor. The database includes information taken from verified DAR membership applications and is not a comprehensive list of all who served in the Revolutionary War. New Patriots are added as they are proven through DAR membership applications.

What is a Patriot?
Patriots were those who resided in the Thirteen Colonies and rejected British rule. They were known as Continentals, rebels, and revolutionaries. Their opposition, the Loyalists, was in support of continued British law. In July of 1776, the United States of America declared itself an independent nation.
Patriots were from every social, economic, and ethnic background. Lawyers, wives, students, planters, merchants, farmers, slaves, and freemen were among those who fought for independence or supported the cause through Patriotic Service or Civil Service.
